"The Magic HP Giveaway"

Just surfing the net and found an awesome competition "The Magic HP Giveaway". Wow imagine winning that competition, it would be a great way to finally be able to give back to the community.

Looking at it I thought it would be easy to figure out what to do if I happened to win but once I started thinking about it the options just kept coming.

I think the first person I would give something to would be my husband, he is so supportive and often says that between me and the kids nothing in the house belongs to him. If I could give him a laptop that he could use for sound recording he would finally have a hobby for him and be able to claim a small portion of the house as his own. He studied sound engineering but then met and married me, had 3 kids and had to find a job that better supported us.

My kids are always bugging me to go on the computer but as I work from home I don't let them - I'm sure it's going to die soon and then I would be really stuck. I think I would keep a laptop to use for my job as then I can go and visit clients and book their travel while I'm there rather than ringing them back later.

My desktop could go to the kids and if something happened it wouldn't be so bad - this would also help them with their school work.

I would give the desktop to the kids' school as they are looking at starting up an enrichment class next year and I'm sure this would help them with this.

I help run a group for mothers of preschoolers in our area and I think I would donate the other laptop to this group. We could also use the printer to print out photos of the kids for their families. We are planning next year to expand our group - at the moment we offer a creche for the kids and the Mums have a discussion, morning tea and then do a craft with no little fingers helping. Next year we would love to be able to do a used clothing swap on a permanent basis with a cothing rack available for people to choose from, we would also like to set up a table with non perishable food items for people to take home with them to help out in these tough times.

  5. I know all about not letting the kid use the computer. My livelihood depends on my computer, and if it crashes, I'm in trouble! Having an extra would be great for you and your family, so much less stress!

    Blessings and good luck!

  7. Great ideas! How dependent we become on our laptops. Mine is currently dead and awaiting a trip to the geek squad (eek!) and I have hi-jacked my son's desktop.
Good luck, and I hope you enjoy reading all the other blogs as much as I have.

  8. I really like the idea of giving a printer and a laptop to a group of preschoolers-the kids and the parents would gain a lot by having their experience registered. Good job. Rodrigo Brandao
